In researching how to calm the room we looked into sound deadening materials. And we came upon a very cool product called Rubber Tak which we can install on two walls in Room 220.
Part of the problem with noise is all the hard surfaces in room 220. In fact, there are no 'soft' surfaces. We're making 2 walls sound absorbent.
Installing Rubber Tak on both the closets and the back wall will both soften the high decimal sound in the space and provide a lot of display space for Ms. Morrison to show off her students’ work neatly and respectfully. Effective display is a challenge for any teacher.
Rubber Tak's dark blue-black mottled background also creates a good frame for students' work. And it can be used over and over again. It's relatively inexpensive, sanitary, durable, and easy to install. And, as I said before, very importantly, it’s sound deadening.
And, in addition, we're working with our teacher, Ms. Morrison (Opal to us), to develop a focused, fresh system for her to use in displaying work in the Fall. Our mutual goal is to have a very organized, spirited and inspired classroom. Our focus is always on maximizing the teaching and learning experience. We can't wait to study the impact to verify the effect of our hard work!
